What is EFT?

EFT stands for “Emotional Freedom Technique” which combines two well-established sciences, mind body medicine and acupuncture. EFT can be described as an emotional version of acupuncture WITHOUT the needles.

Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT) is a powerful process that can help just about anyone to achieve genuine freedom from the emotions that have created problems in their lives.

EFT is becoming known to many users as a modern miracle. It can quickly and dramatically relieve emotional disturbances along with many physical symptoms. It can work within minutes and it's results are usually long lasting.

EFT can be used to treat virtually any problem, it's founder Gary Craig suggests that EFT should be tried on every problem.

What is the History of EFT?

In 1980 Dr. Roger Callahan who at the time was working as a psychotherapist, decided to step outside the normal boundaries of his work. He introduced his study of the body’s energy system to a client. He worked with this client who was trying to alleviate her headaches and nightmares related to her fear of water. To his surprise after only a few minutes of tapping on her stomach meridian end point (under her eye) his client announced that her phobia had gone. This was confirmed when they both headed for the nearby swimming pool where she begun throwing water in her face. The fear she usually felt had completely gone, and has not returned.

More recently, Gary Craig had further developed EFT from these early days of meridian tapping. At the early age of 13 he recognized that the quality of his thoughts was mirrored in the quality of his life. He recognized that the cause of negative emotions was a disruption in the bodies energy system. So he developed a technique whereby stimulating certain meridian points by tapping on them with our fingertips whilst addressing the negative emotion the bodies energy system can be brought back into balance.

What is EFT all about?

The EFT Mission Statement proclaims “The cause of all negative emotions is a disruption in the body’s energy system.”

This forms the basis for EFT, whenever there is an energy imbalance in the body the body will show this in the form of a negative emotion. So, by dealing with this negative emotion the body will restore energy equilibrium. Whilst the memory of a past traumatic experience is acknowledged it is not focused upon in EFT, thereby minimising reliving possible emotionally painful events.

EFT works on similar principles to acupunture but without the use of needles. By tapping on meridians, the bodies energy points, the bodies energy fields can be re-aligned. This helps the client to overcome their problems, it is very easy to learn and can be carried out anywhere.

Why should I try EFT?

EFT is such a versatile therapy, which is simple to learn. After being introduced to EFT you can then go on to use this technique for yourself on any other issues. Additionally, EFT can reduce the therapeutic process from months or years down to hours or minutes. As emotional stress can contribute to physical pain and disease it is beneficial to use this method to help relieve these physical symptoms quickly.
