Why healing?

Why are we here? What are we?

Healing can be described as a return to wholeness. So the question is which part of us is not whole?

I have tended over the years to give a lot of consideration to why I’m here. I have spent my life searching for meaning; although I haven’t been fully aware that that was what I was doing until recently.

I have come to my current view that we are souls in human form here in the physical for the extra learning this brings. There are similar views in some of the world religions e.g. Buddhism. Many people will have come across the word karma. There is a Buddhist view that we, as souls, continually incarnate here until we have learnt all our lessons i.e. dealt with all our karma. I would say this view is similar to my own (although I am in no way religious), and the simplicity of this view in no way represents the complex reality we find ourselves in here on Earth.

We all have personality/ego expressed in our lives. We’re always trying to be like someone else; either consciously or following some unconscious pattern that parents or society has molded into us. For many reasons Soul has separated from us and ceased to run our lives.

I think most of us feel a gaping hole in our lives that cannot be filled with any amount of television, pills, alcohol, shopping etc. This hole needs filling with soul in order for us to start to move away from the emptiness in our lives.

So how does one start to include soul in ones life again? One starts to heal and then slowly brings soul back into your life.

So what will healing bring me?

I have made a list of things which is not unreasonable to expect from a healing. There may be one or more of these as the result of a single healing. The more healings one has, the more that you work on yourself, the more change one can expect.

Here are just a few examples to consider:

  • Change! From the smallest to the largest changes. There will always be change due to a healing. The question is will you be able to describe the change?
  • A sense of relaxation with peace, calm and tranquility.
  • Relief from symptoms that brought you for the healing in the first place. Stress, migraines and headaches, both long and short term, sleep disorders, back ache, aches, pains and discomfort in the body, emotional upheaval and grieving etc. are just some of the symptoms that clients of mine have found relief from.
  • A lightening of your load by providing a safe, quiet and confidential place to discuss what ails you.
  • A different view of life, probably starting with specific situations where you are troubled.
  • Quiet time.
  • Spiritual awakening.
  • Opening of your heart and connection to soul.

I make no claim that any person coming for healing will be cured of any symptom. Healing will go where soul chooses for it to go and is as mysterious as soul in this respect.

If you come with the expectation that a single healing will remove a lifetime of ailments then you will, very sadly, be disappointed. Healing is not a quick fix although some ailments may quickly disappear. Healing is a path by which our heart is repaired and thus we can bring more heart, soul, back into our life.

The possibilities are as endless as soul is infinite. Do you want any of these? Are you willing to give it a go and see what happens? To remember what your soul feels like?!
